CHINA NEW COSMETIC INGREDIENT SUCCESS

On September 24, 2026, Hangzhou Grand Biologic Pharmaceutical Inc. (Hangzhou Grand) successfully completed the notification of Lactococcus lactis powder (乳酸乳球菌粉) as a new cosmetic ingredient (NCI) in China, with regulatory and technical support from REACH24H. The ingredient received notification number 国妆原备字20260148.

The achievement marks a milestone for probiotic-derived cosmetic ingredient innovation. According to the September 2026 project announcement, it was the first probiotic powder cosmetic ingredient to complete notification and public disclosure in China, opening a new direction for the company's proprietary microbial research.

Notification: September 24, 2026      Six-month project period

From Proprietary Strain Research to Cosmetic Ingredient Development

The ingredient is developed from a proprietary Lactococcus lactis strain selected from Hangzhou Grand's independently established microbial resource library. A rigorous natural screening process provides the strain with clear source traceability and a well-defined genetic background. Hangzhou Grand has further developed it into a high-purity, freeze-dried, inactivated bacterial powder for cosmetic applications.

The development draws on two complementary strengths: the strain's potential cosmetic applications and skin compatibility, and Hangzhou Grand's established capabilities in large-scale microbial cultivation and formulation processes. Together, these capabilities support the transition from laboratory research to industrial production.

REACH24H's Support: A Tailored Strategy and a Six-Month Project

For this project, REACH24H's cosmetic ingredient technical team developed a customized notification strategy tailored to the characteristics of the bacterial powder. The team worked closely with Hangzhou Grand's research and development and quality teams, combining detailed early-stage planning with thorough technical communication to coordinate the notification work.

This collaboration enabled Hangzhou Grand to obtain the NCI notification number within a six-month project period. The case illustrates how an ingredient-specific regulatory strategy and close cooperation between regulatory, research and quality specialists can support the progression of an innovative ingredient toward notification.

About Hangzhou Grand Biologic Pharmaceutical Inc.
