Overview: China's Pet Feed Regulatory System
On April 27, 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China issued Notice No. 20, which formulated a series of normative documents on the registration and management of pet feed, including Measures for The Administration of Pet Feed, Regulations on the Labeling of Pet Feed and Regulations on the Hygiene of Pet Feed. Since then, China has established a relatively independent management system for pet feed, including production licenses, hygiene standards and labeling requirements.
Compliance Procedures for Pet Food in China
All imported pet food must go through inspection by the entry-exit inspection and quarantine body in accordance with the provisions of relevant laws and administrative regulations on import and export commodity inspection, and the certification materials must be attached.
