South Korea Initiates the 2021 Statistical Survey of Chemical Substances

Related enterprises shall submit the statistical survey before the end of August. Information such as the type, usage, and handling amount of the chemical substances shall be included.
On June 7th, 2021, the Han River Basin Environmental Office under the Ministry of Environment (MoE) issued a notice [1] to announce the initiation of the 4th statistical survey of chemical substances in 38769 enterprises in its jurisdiction. The statistical survey was conducted for the first time in 2015. According to the Chemical Control Act (CCA), MoE shall conduct statistical surveys on the current status of handling related to the handling of chemical substances, handling facilities, etc. every two years, aiming to investigate the types of chemical substances in South Korea, as well as their manufacturing, import and export, and use conditions, to reduce chemical accidents, strengthen accident response capabilities, and ensure that companies are in compliance with international conventions (Related provisions are specified in Chapter 2, Article 9-12 in CCA).
