South Korea Solicits Opinions on Hazard Assessment Results under K-REACH

On May 31, 2022, South Korea’s National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) issued the NIER Announcement No.2022-240, seeking public comments on the updates of hazard assessment results of new and existing chemical substances that were previously registered and assessed under K-REACH. These registered substances were issued with English chemical names, CAS No., corresponding hazard properties, classification, and labeling information, as well as the determination of whether it is classified as a toxic chemical. Comments are welcome before June 20, 2022.  

The Proposed Updates


  • Updating the hazard assessment results of 8 new chemical substances (given numbers are 2017-297, 2017-1034, 2018-113, 2018-654, 2021-55, 2021-116, 2021-144, 2021-200) in Annex 1
  • Updating the hazard assessment results of 7 existing chemical substances (given numbers are 2020-012, 2020-043, 2021-063, 2021-133, 2021-144, 2021-158, 2021-159) in Annex 2
