Chile Releases Second National Chemicals Inventory

Chile has recently published the second batch of its National Chemicals Inventory. This update includes 11 substances classified as hazardous, specifically intended for non-industrial uses such as consumer and professional applications. 

According to Chile REACH, non-industrial hazardous substances not listed in the inventory are categorized as "New Substances." Additionally, companies are required to complete an update of registration information for industrial-use hazardous substances registered in 2024 by August 30, 2026.

Registration Timeline for Chemicals in Chile

Chile launched its Chemical Registration Platform in January 2024, implementing phased registration periods for various chemical types. Below is the timeline for registration:

1. The registration for existing substances concluded on August 30, 2025.

2. Hazardous substances not listed in the National Chemicals Inventory and with an annual production or import volume of 1 ton or more are considered "New Substances."

New Substance Registration in Chile

For substances classified as "New Substances," registration is currently conducted via email. Manufacturers or importers based in Chile must submit:

• A registration form

• Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

Registration information includes basic information about the substance, hazard classification, intended use, etc. This process ensures compliance with Chile's chemical management regulations. 

Update of Registration Information

Companies that registered industrial-use hazardous substances in 2024 are required to update their registration information by August 30, 2026. This update is critical for maintaining compliance with Chilean regulations.
