Background

Starting from January 2026, New Zealand's updated Cosmetic Products Group Standard 2020 will take effect, introducing several changes to the country's cosmetic regulatory framework. The main updates include revisions to the lists of prohibited and restricted substances, a phased ban on PFAS in cosmetic products, updated requirements for nanomaterials, and an increase in the scope of products covered by the Group Standard. These changes will affect ingredient management, labeling, and documentation across the supply chain, so companies will need to review their processes and ensure compliance with the new requirements.

In this webinar, Dr. Shaun Presow, Hazardous Substances Reassessments Manager for the Environmental Protection Authority (the cosmetic competent authority), will provide an in-depth overview of the key changes introduced by the new Group Standard, their implications for product formulation and compliance, and practical guidance to help companies prepare for the upcoming transition.
