CFSA Consults on New Food Additives Derived from Recombinant Biotech

  • China is now soliciting opinions on 7 new food additives, including 6 food additives derived from recombinant biotechnology (bacterial horizontal gene transfer). New bacterial expression vector sources and hosts are specified. One food additive is proposed to have its usage expanded.

On April 2, 2019, CFSA released notices and consulted on the use of 7 new food additives. They are glucose isomerase, lipase, alpha-amylase, monascus yellow pigment, β-galactosidase, xylanase and α-L-Arabinofuranosidase.
