China to issue new pesticide regulation by December 2012

Late last month in Nanjing, Sui Pengfei, director of ICAMA (Institute for the control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture) revealed in an industrial conference that China to issue new regulation for pesticide and the legal text will be promulgated by December 2012 the latest. The original “Regulation on the Control of Agricultural Chemicals”, which has been operated for almost 15 years is not applicable for current circumstances as more and more HES concerns have been drawn by the public. In addition, the poor-innovative and low-efficient crop protection industry might further threaten China’s food supply and environment.
