The event brings together advanced material suppliers, chemical manufacturers, technology providers, and policymakers through a multi-track format that includes:

  • Advanced Chemical Materials Exhibition: showcasing advanced chemicals involved in manufacturing in all industries, such as next-generation automotive materials and electronic products.

  • Chemical Substance Management Meeting: Japan’s only dedicated forum on chemical management, uniting global experts across development, import/export, logistics, disposal, and recycling.

  • Process Industry DX Exhibition: presenting technologies and services such as sales and customer management solutions for the process manufacturing industry, R&D support systems, security, production management systems, and back-office operation support.

  • Keynote Sessions: Featuring a diverse lineup of speakers from government, industry, and academia, offering exclusive insights into regulatory trends, advanced materials, and the future of chemical innovation.

  • Industrial Safety Forum: A focused platform for exchanging opinions on operational safety and risk management to elevate safety standards across the chemical industry.

Positioned at the intersection of innovation and compliance, the exhibition has become a must-attend event for companies planning long-term strategies in Japan and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

Key Insights from REACH24H’s Presentation

During the conference, REACH24H offered a consolidated view of major global regulatory shifts, highlighting three observable developments in global chemical management: the acceleration of REACH-like regulatory updates worldwide, the emergence of transitional mechanisms that help reduce short-term compliance burdens, and a broader shift toward more proactive and strategic compliance planning.

Global REACH-Like Systems Are Entering a Phase of Acceleration

Regions across the world are either updating existing legislation or launching new REACH-like frameworks.EU REACH is undergoing its most significant changes, with proposals for a 10-year validity period for registrations. Meanwhile, UK REACH continues to build a new, lower-cost registration system, "Alternative Transitional Registration Model" (ATRm), designed to maintain high health and environmental standards while significantly reducing compliance costs for businesses.

Countries such as Turkey, South Korea, China, Ukraine, and Colombia are also refining registration rules or redefining compliance deadlines.

A “Policy Window” Is Emerging for Burden Reduction

Several regions are creating transitional mechanisms that allow companies to lower the immediate compliance burden:

Turkey’s temporary registration: If the Lead Registrant cannot complete the formal registration in time, a temporary registration must be submitted by March 31, 2026. Joint registrants must complete their joint submission by September 30, 2026. Temporary registration only requires the submission of physicochemical data without the need to submit ecological and toxicological data for the time being.

The UK’s ATRm: The UK government is actively developing a new, lower-cost registration system designed to maintain high health and environmental standards while significantly reducing compliance costs for businesses.

For multinational companies, proactively leveraging these windows can prevent supply disruptions and reduce compliance expenditure.

Compliance Is Moving from Reactive to Strategic

REACH24H emphasized that companies today must shift from “react-when-required” to predictive compliance management, incorporating:

  • Close attention to recently updated or postponed registration deadlines

  • Stronger collaboration among R&D, regulatory, and commercial teams

  • Partnerships with specialized regulatory experts to ensure alignment across markets

This evolution allows businesses not only to meet obligations but also to use compliance as a competitive advantage—accelerating market access, reducing long-term risk, and supporting global sustainability goals.

Conclusion

By participating in Chemical Materials Japan 2025, REACH24H reaffirmed its commitment to supporting companies through ongoing regulatory transformation.

Looking ahead, we will continue to take an active role in international industry forums, strengthening collaboration with global enterprises, and delivering practical, forward-looking compliance support.
