Focusing on MoCRA Updates
In one of the sessions, Seongmin (Mike) Sohn, a distinguished speaker from REACH24H, delivered a comprehensive overview of the new regulations and potential impact of the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 (MoCRA) on cosmetics ingredients. The presentation shed light on the transformative changes introduced by MoCRA, which is set to officially launch in December following pilot tests. However, it was announced during the event that the effective date would be postponed by six months. Attendees gained insights into the stringent compliance requirements imposed by MoCRA, covering various stages of the cosmetic product lifecycle. The session emphasized the importance of compliance with facility registration, product listing, good manufacturing practices, labelling, safety substantiation, and adverse event reporting. Mike also clarified the definitions of US agents and US RP in comparison to EU regulations, advising attendees to establish robust systems to manage adverse reaction claims and prepare annual reports in the coming months.
